Commission Fines 'STC, Mobily, Zain' More Than SAR 14 Million

The Communications and Information Technology Commission published today, on its website, financial fines exceeding "14,000,000" fourteen million riyals, against Saudi Telecom Company, Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily), and Saudi Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain), for several violations committed by the companies.

In detail, the Communications and Information Technology Commission stated that the Committee for Consideration of Telecom Law Violations had issued financial fines of (12,473,750) riyals against Saudi Telecom Company, and the Committee issued financial fines of (1,653,000) riyals against Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily), and the Committee also issued financial fines of (296,000) riyals against Saudi Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain), noting that all these fines are considered final.

It is noted that this step is an extension of the Communications and Information Technology Commission's efforts to work on protecting the rights of users, and the telecom market from violating practices that contravene the provisions of the Telecom Law and its implementing regulations.

* Saudi Telecom Company violations (12,473,750) riyals

1- Failure to comply with implementing a number of the Commission's directives regarding a number of complaints.

2- Establishing a number of prepaid SIM cards in violation of the Telecom Law.

3- Failure to provide the Commission with the required information within the specified deadline.

4- Using frequencies without obtaining a license from the Commission.

* Etihad Etisalat Company "Mobily" violations (1,653,000) riyals

1- Failure to comply with implementing a number of the Commission's directives regarding a number of complaints.

2- Establishing prepaid SIM cards in violation of the Telecom Law.

3- Failure to provide the Commission with the required information within the specified deadline.

4- Failure to respond to requests to port a number of numbers.

* Saudi Mobile Telecommunications Company "Zain" violations (296,000) riyals

1- Failure to implement the Commission's directives regarding a number of complaints.

2- Establishing prepaid SIM cards in violation of the Telecom Law.

3- Failure to provide the Commission with the required information within the specified deadline.
