CITC Announces the Readiness of (5,532) 4G Stations and (2,710) Wi-Fi Access Points to Serve Pilgrims

The Communications and Information Technology Commission revealed its preparations to serve visitors to the Two Holy Mosques for the blessed month of Ramadan for the current year 1440H, affirming the readiness of telecom and information technology service providers' networks to provide the best services to visitors of the Two Holy Mosques with high efficiency and quality.

The Commission reported that the number of 4G base stations in the Grand Mosque reached (525) stations, and in Makkah Al-Mukarramah (3,566) stations, while the number of 4G base stations in the Prophet's Mosque reached (293) stations, and in Madinah Al-Munawwarah

(1,966) stations.

Regarding the provision of Wi-Fi access points and enhancing capacity to meet the growing demand for its services, the Commission noted that it worked to provide (1,256) access points in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, in addition to (1,454) access points in Madinah Al-Munawwarah.

The Commission also affirmed that it is working to harness all capabilities and efforts to facilitate the access of the guests of the Two Holy Mosques to the best services during the blessed month of Ramadan, and to cooperate with all relevant entities in this regard, including the presence of more than 674 points of sale for telecom service providers, distributed across the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, and the cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah, in addition to continuous coordination with the government agencies responsible for serving the guests of the Most Merciful.

It is noted that the telecom and information technology infrastructure in the Two Holy Mosques, Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and Madinah Al-Munawwarah is among the largest and most advanced infrastructures in the world, and this infrastructure includes exchanges, cabinets, towers, and wireless stations for third- and fourth-generation technologies to serve millions of guests of the Most Merciful.
