"CITC" Announces the Entry into Force of the "Cybersecurity Regulatory Framework for Service Providers in the Telecom, IT, and Postal Sector"
The Communications and Information Technology Commission announced the entry into force of the "
Cybersecurity Regulatory Framework for Service Providers in the Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Postal Sector
," which aims to raise the level of cybersecurity maturity among service providers by providing requirements to improve cybersecurity risk management in accordance with international best practices and local cybersecurity frameworks.
The Commission explained that the regulatory framework contains a comprehensive set of cybersecurity requirements and controls that help organize and enable practices in this field among providers of telecom, information technology, and postal services, ensuring a higher level of trust in the safety of service providers' infrastructure, and applying best practices in establishing appropriate cybersecurity measures. This regulatory framework also supports adopting a risk management methodology and achieving cybersecurity requirements among service providers, raising the level of readiness to confront and deal with cyber threats, and ensuring the safety of services provided to customers.

It is noted that the Communications and Information Technology Commission issued the regulatory framework in the third quarter of 2020 in coordination with the National Cybersecurity Authority, as part of integrated national efforts in this regard, whereby the current state of
cybersecurity
maturity in the telecommunications, information technology, and postal sector was assessed, and weaknesses and shortcomings were identified, to track progress in strengthening cybersecurity practices among service providers in the sector after the framework's entry into force.
