CITC Announces the Start of Service Suspension for Unregistered SIM Cards
The Communications and Information Technology Commission announced today, Thursday 16 Shawwal 1437H, the start of suspending the outgoing messaging feature for two weeks for mobile SIM cards (postpaid, prepaid, data) whose data has not been verified, after which service will be disconnected. Service can be restored for SIM cards that have not been verified, provided this is done before (90) days have passed from the date of disconnection.
The Commission called on all mobile communications service subscribers to maintain SIM cards registered in their own names, confirming in this regard that the subscriber bears full responsibility for any unauthorized uses arising from numbers registered in their name. Subscribers can verify the numbers registered in their name through the number designated by each service provider.
(Saudi Telecom Company subscribers: send a text message to number (900) containing the number (9988) - Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) subscribers: send a blank text message to number (616166) - Saudi Telecom Mobile Company (Zain) subscribers: send a blank text message to number (700123) - Virgin Mobile subscribers: send a blank text message to number (309985) - Lebara subscribers: send a text message containing the letters (ID) to number (1755).
It is worth noting that the Communications and Information Technology Commission had previously directed all telecom service providers to implement fingerprint verification service or through the Absher system for subscribers to mobile communications services (postpaid, prepaid, data), starting from 11/4/1437H corresponding to 21/1/2016.
