Communications and Information Technology Commission warns against responding to calls and messages from unknown sources, and to block them immediately

The Communications and Information Technology Commission warned today, in a press statement, against responding to calls and messages from unknown sources, which mostly come from unrecognized numbers outside the Kingdom, and arrive through direct calls, or through social media programs and some applications, or through text messages, with the aim of financial and personal extortion, or sorcery and witchcraft.

The Commission urged everyone to be careful and cautious about receiving such calls or returning missed calls from such numbers, and to block them immediately, and to delete any messages received directly without opening them, so as not to fall victim to such practices. While the Commission hopes the public will pay attention to such practices, it simultaneously urges parents to monitor their family members and alert them to such international calls and messages from unknown sources and unrecognized numbers, and not to respond to them at all, and to block them immediately.

The Commission concluded its press statement today by noting that this warning comes as an extension of the awareness campaigns it launches regarding protecting users from such practices, and that if a subscriber receives such calls and messages, they should report it directly to the Commission through the complaints system on the Commission's website www.cst.gov.sa, or through the Commission's electronic application on smart devices, or by calling the Commission's complaints number 0114618200, or through the national call center "Amer" at 199099 and entering the Commission's number 100.
