Communications and Information Technology Commission: The unified license expands the reach of services across all regions of the Kingdom
The Communications and Information Technology Commission explained that it intends to soon make unified licenses available for issuance to licensed communications and information technology service providers in the Kingdom, which enable the service provider to offer a diverse range of services (mobile and fixed, voice and internet) via the technologies deemed by the licensee to be appropriate to its commercial and technical plan, in line with global trends.
The Commission stated that its aim in making the unified license available is to encourage relevant communications and information technology service providers to raise the level of competition in the market, and increase subscribers' options for services provided by the service provider suitable for them, as well as to incentivize service providers to raise network efficiency and reduce costs by enabling the provision of a number of services through a single unified license. Unified licenses also expand the reach of diverse services across all regions of the Kingdom covered by the Universal Service Fund program, in addition to developing the regulatory environment for current licensees to offer innovative services and keep pace with global developments.
