Communications and Information Technology Commission: Shura Council recommendations are being adopted, and what Al-Hayat published is untrue

With reference to what was reported in Al-Hayat newspaper about the Commission and the recommendations of the Shura Council, the Commission confirms in this regard that the Shura Council's statement issued regarding its sixty-first session, held last Monday, did not address what the newspaper raised. Rather, the Council mentioned in its statement issued on this matter, calling on the Communications and Information Technology Commission to coordinate with relevant entities to raise the quality of universal communications service within cities, and to coordinate with relevant entities to limit the negative effects and repercussions of social media networks on security, economic, and social aspects in the Kingdom, and to further stimulate investment in the communications and information technology industry, and to develop the necessary mechanisms for that.

The Commission would also like to clarify that all decisions and recommendations issued by the Shura Council are adopted, in accordance with what achieves the goals that both the Commission and the Council seek to achieve, in a manner that serves the communications and information technology sector in the Kingdom, achieves fair competition, service quality, and protects users' rights.
