"Communications Commission" seizes a number of violating devices in telecom shops and markets

Monitoring teams affiliated with the Communications and Information Technology Commission carried out inspection tours of markets and shops selling communications devices, to verify their compliance with not selling or using violating communications devices.

During the tour, the monitoring teams confirmed to telecom shops the importance of complying with the corrective grace period for supplying and selling violating devices, which ends on 5-7-2021, noting the impact these devices have on the level of service provided to neighboring users, and the resulting radio interference from these violating devices, which negatively affects mobile communications services.

The monitoring teams also emphasized the importance of licensing communications devices in the markets through the Communications and Information Technology Commission's website and via the "

Device Licensing Service

" to ensure their compliance with the specifications and standards set by the Communications Commission.

It is noted that the Communications Commission has conducted more than 1,000 inspection visits to communications and information technology markets since the beginning of the year, resulting in the seizure of a number of violating establishments and devices in cooperation with security agencies. The Commission had previously announced that fines for supplying and selling violating communications devices in the Kingdom after the corrective grace period ends reach up to SAR 25 million, according to the Telecommunications Law.
