Communications and Information Technology Commission makes additional frequencies available to amateur radio enthusiasts in the Kingdom

In its pursuit of enhancing the gains achieved from making the amateur radio service available in the Kingdom, including supporting those interested in this hobby to expand the scope of their use of this service, and strengthening the Kingdom's global position in this hobby, and after studying the possibility of adding the frequencies of the sub-band (3620-3635) kilohertz with a bandwidth of 15 kilohertz, His Excellency the Governor of the Commission, Engineer Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Darrab, approved adding the frequencies of this band to the list of permitted frequencies in the technical controls and executive procedures of the amateur radio service regulation in the Kingdom issued by Commission decision No. 20/1424 dated 21/1424H. Under this regulation, amateur radio enthusiasts in the Kingdom holding (Class One) licenses are permitted to transmit and receive on all frequencies permitted for this service in the Kingdom, and holders of (Class Two) licenses are permitted to transmit on Very High Frequencies (VHF) and above, and to receive on all frequencies permitted for this service.

Amateur radio is one of the oldest hobbies in the use of communication technologies, and it is widely popular among those interested in radio technology globally. Individuals interested in this hobby use a radio device for purposes of self-training, communication, or technical research, and amateur radio enthusiasts are required to obtain a license to use wireless devices from the Commission to practice this hobby.
