Communications and Information Technology Commission Organizes Training Program on Implementing Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6)

The Communications and Information Technology Commission organized, at its main headquarters in Riyadh, a training program on implementing Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) during the period (Monday 16 Rajab 1439H, corresponding to April 2, 2018 – Wednesday 18 Rajab 1439H, corresponding to April 4, 2018), in cooperation with the Yesser Government e-Transactions Program.

The Commission said that this program is delivered by a select group of international engineers specializing in this field, in cooperation with RIPE NCC, which is responsible for distributing internet addresses for Europe and the Middle East, adding that it targets training personnel from various government sectors to familiarize them with the most important security trends and practices related to implementing this version. This comes as part of the Commission's ongoing efforts to promote support for IPv6 in the Kingdom, with this training being held for the fifteenth consecutive time, benefiting more than 400 trainees from specialists in the public and private sectors and internet service providers in the Kingdom.

It is worth noting that IPv6 is the new version of the Internet Protocol that provides a vast number of internet addresses used to connect devices to one another, which are needed to expand and grow the internet, replacing the currently used IPv4.
