"The Communications and Information Technology Commission" Requires Telecom Service Providers to Adopt Digital Contracts

The Communications and Information Technology Commission today required all licensed telecom service providers in the Kingdom to adopt digital contracts in the procedures for establishing, modifying, and cancelling services for users, within a maximum period of 90 days.

According to the decision issued today by Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, telecom service providers in the Kingdom must comply with implementing digital contracts within a maximum period of 90 days, and discontinue the use of paper in all branches and points of sale. This is in order to ensure the preservation of the rights of all parties by relying on digital means to document the process of a user obtaining the service, including providing the user with a digital copy of the service request.

According to the Commission, this step aims to develop the mechanisms for providing telecommunications services, facilitate transactions between users and service providers, automate service procurement procedures, and improve the user experience.

It is worth noting that the Communications and Information Technology Commission had previously directed all service providers to equip points of sale with digital devices to deliver the best services with ease and convenience and in line with digital transformation, without the need to visit service providers' offices.
