Communications and Information Technology Commission: More Than 29.5 Million Successful Local and International Calls on the Tenth Day of Dhu al-Hijjah in Makkah

The Communications and Information Technology Commission today issued its statistical report on the performance of telecommunications networks in Makkah for the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah 1439H. In detail, the report showed that the number of successful local and international calls exceeded 29.5 million, indicating that the call success rate indicator exceeded 99%.

The Commission noted that data download volume reached 1,383 terabytes, an increase estimated at 35% compared to the previous year, equivalent to watching more than 850,000 hours of video content in 1080p HD resolution, in addition to internet download speed reaching 26.55 Mbps, an improvement of 111% compared to the previous year, while upload speed reached approximately 10 Mbps, an improvement of 60% compared to the previous year.

The Commission added that the average daily per-capita data consumption in Makkah during the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah 1439H reached 264 megabytes per subscriber, compared to the global average daily per-capita data consumption rate of 150 megabytes per subscriber, noting that the most data-consuming applications were YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
