Communications and Information Technology Commission Releases the First Issue of Its Electronic Newsletter

On the first day of Muharram 1431H, the Communications and Information Technology Commission launched its first electronic newsletter, marking the first of the Commission's official media publications aimed at tracking and publishing the most important statistics and developments related to the telecommunications and technology sector in the Kingdom.

The newsletter contained the latest performance indicator figures for the third quarter of 2009 relating to the number of subscriptions and penetration and growth rates in mobile and fixed telecommunications services, in addition to broadband services and the number of internet users in the Kingdom. It also included the latest statistics on the number of licenses issued by the Commission up to the third quarter of the current year, 2009.

In this context, Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Malik, Director General of Public Relations and International Affairs at the Communications and Information Technology Commission and Official Spokesperson for the Commission, affirmed that this step represents the first official media publication issued by the Commission, reflecting its appreciation of the importance of opening new channels linking the audience interested in the current state of telecommunications and technology, by tracking the most important developments and changes in this field at the local and global levels. He added that the newsletter is hoped to become an authoritative source of information, where interested audiences and media outlets alike can find documented information, particularly regarding the matters the Communications and Information Technology Commission deals with.
