Communications and Information Technology Commission Releases the Fifth Issue of Its Electronic Newsletter

The Communications and Information Technology Commission today released the fifth issue of its quarterly electronic newsletter, covering the most important developments in the third quarter of 2010 related to the telecommunications and IT sector in the Kingdom.

The newsletter, issued in this edition in both Arabic and English, reviewed the latest performance indicator figures for the telecommunications and IT sector for the third quarter of 2010 in the Kingdom, including the number of mobile telecommunications subscriptions, the number of internet users, in addition to tracking broadband penetration rates. It also provides a summary of the results of the Internet Usage in the Kingdom study for 2009, which the Commission has now conducted for the third time.

The issue includes the regulatory framework adopted by the Commission for defining markets and dominance in the telecommunications sector in the Kingdom, defining in this regard the markets subject to and not subject to dominance-related regulation, in addition to shedding light on the new services that the National Information Security Guidance Center intends to offer at the beginning of next year.
