"The Communications and Information Technology Commission" Launches an Updated Version of the Cloud Computing Regulatory Framework

The Communications and Information Technology Commission has launched an updated version of the cloud computing regulatory framework, in addition to an updated version of the guide for cloud computing service providers, with the aim of developing the telecommunications and IT sector and achieving optimal benefit from cloud computing services in the Kingdom. This follows a study and evaluation of developments in the cloud computing services market in the Kingdom, in line with data and cybersecurity regulations, and to stimulate investment in cloud computing and its services.

The updated version included a number of facilitations to the regulatory requirements for providing cloud computing services by redistributing registration categories, clarifying the requirements and conditions related to the registration process for providing cloud computing services, in addition to setting out the mechanisms for handling and classifying data and the responsibilities of cloud computing service subscribers and providers.
