Communications and Information Technology Commission Launches Survey on Unsolicited Messages and Calls

The Communications and Information Technology Commission today launched a survey to gauge the opinions of users in the Kingdom regarding unsolicited (spam) messages and calls, as part of its efforts to protect users, raise their awareness of their rights, and take the necessary precautions against the nuisance that may result from unsolicited messages and calls.

The Commission explained that, through the survey, it aims to uncover data such as the number of unsolicited messages and calls users receive and the rate at which they receive such messages and calls, in addition to users' impressions upon receiving these messages and the extent of their awareness of the services provided by telecom companies in this regard.

It is worth noting that the Commission issued, last year,

controls for curbing unsolicited messages

and required telecom companies to adopt them, given that such messages are a source of nuisance and a threat to telecom service users.
