"The Communications and Information Technology Commission" Issues a Privacy Risk Assessment Guide for Service Providers

The Communications and Information Technology Commission has issued a Privacy Risk Assessment Guide for providers of telecommunications, IT, and postal services, aimed at providing guidance on the process of assessing privacy risks in the services and products of telecommunications, IT, and postal service providers.

The Commission explained that the guide sets out the controls for conducting the privacy risk assessment process, primarily to fulfil approved privacy requirements, and clarifies the roles and responsibilities among relevant parties and the team responsible for privacy risk assessment, in addition to templates and illustrative examples for the privacy risk assessment process.

It is worth noting that the Communications and Information Technology Commission includes among its strategic priorities the regulation and governance of the handling of personal data, in an effort to preserve the privacy of users' personal data and protect their rights by establishing regulatory principles and foundations for this purpose.
