Commission: Increase in 4G Network Towers and Capacity at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque During Ramadan Season

The Communications and Information Technology Commission explained that the percentage increase in the number of 4G towers for this year's Ramadan season at the Grand Mosque reached 22.52%, and likewise in the city of Makkah reached 22.16%, while 4G network peak-hour capacity increased at the Grand Mosque by 17.11%, and likewise in the city of Makkah the increase reached 9.93%, compared to last year. In Madinah, the Commission showed that the percentage increase in the number of 4G towers at the Prophet's Mosque reached 20.48%, and likewise in the city of Madinah reached 19.92%, while 4G network peak-hour capacity increased at the Prophet's Mosque by 22.92%, and likewise in the city of Madinah the increase reached 18.28%. The Commission also noted that the number of Wi-Fi network access points in the city of Makkah increased by 154.49% and in Madinah by 250.42%, while peak-hour network capacity increased in the city of Makkah by 174.75% and in Madinah by 450.79%, compared to last year.

The Commission affirmed that the telecommunications and information technology infrastructure is among the advanced infrastructures in terms of using the latest technologies, equipment, exchanges, transmission networks, cabinets, and wireless stations that support second, third, and fourth generation mobile phone services.
