Commission Hosts the Quarterly Meeting of the National Regulations Committee

The Communications and Information Technology Commission held the quarterly meeting of the National Regulations Committee at its headquarters, which aims to ensure the highest level of coordination and enhance cooperation among regulatory entities, and alignment in regulating digital topics shared among entities, through conducting studies to evaluate best practices, presenting proposals and recommendations, and launching initiatives for knowledge sharing among entities, in a manner that serves enhancing the digital regulatory environment in various vital sectors.

The meeting was attended by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Commission and the General Commission of Civil Aviation, which joined the Committee's membership since the second half of this year, which will contribute to accelerating the regulation and adoption of technologies related to digitization in general and the telecommunications and information technology sector in particular.

The meeting was held with the attendance and participation of Their Excellencies members of the Committee from the "Water and Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Capital Market Commission, the Communications and Information Technology Commission, the General Commission for Competition, the General Commission of Transport, the General Commission for Audiovisual Media, the National Data Management Office and Artificial Intelligence, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Commission, and the General Commission of Civil Aviation," to discuss the Committee's agenda and the level of progress in the initiatives of the study files for a number of topics related to digital regulatory aspects for 2021, and a number of proposals aimed at enhancing the regulatory environment in the Kingdom.

The Committee discussed the study of the regulatory aspects of digital topics for 2022, with the aim of reaching recommendations and initiatives that address regulatory issues that may arise during regulatory operations, given the overlaps and intersections between relevant entities, and continuing regulatory digital cooperation between them, as the study included the RegTech file, data sharing and data monetization, and drones. The meeting also included an analysis of the current state of the regulatory environment in the Kingdom, the most prominent existing challenges and standard studies, and ways to overcome obstacles through integrated cooperation between entities.

It is noted that the National Regulations Committee was established by a decision of the National Digital Transformation Committee as a strategic step to provide an attractive and stimulating regulatory environment for various sectors, to enhance investment in the digital economy and accelerate digital transformation in the Kingdom.
