'Commission' Holds an Introductory Workshop on the Parcel Lockers Project

The Communications and Information Technology Commission held a virtual workshop to introduce the parcel lockers project, attended by a number of postal and logistics service providers and e-commerce stores, in addition to a number of parties interested in investing in these vital services.

During the workshop, an introductory presentation was given on the Commission's tasks and roles in regulating the postal and logistics services sector, and introducing its efforts in developing the sector, which includes the parcel lockers project, which aims to raise the quality of logistics services and e-commerce operations, provide more options and alternatives for delivering parcels to the end beneficiary, and improve last-mile delivery services in the supply chain, alongside many accompanying economic, social and environmental impacts and benefits.

The workshop also reviewed the operating model of these lockers, shed light on the mechanisms specific to their operational processes, and explained the advantages of these mechanisms, and gave an introductory presentation on the unified digital platform through which the parcel lockers will be managed, which has the feature of technical connectivity with all relevant entities, in addition to connectivity with the National Address, and this platform is also linked to the technical systems of service providers and e-commerce stores.

The workshop concluded by stating the scope of use and operation of the parcel lockers, presenting the project's future investment packages, defining regulatory obligations, and setting the minimum technical requirements for the lockers.
