Commission Holds a Workshop on Electromagnetic Wave Exposure at the Jeddah Chamber

The Communications and Information Technology Commission intends, in cooperation with the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to hold a workshop titled: "Exposure to Electromagnetic Waves Emitted from Mobile Phones and Wireless Broadcasting Stations," on Tuesday, 25/06/1431H corresponding to 08/06/2010, in the Al-Fadl Hall on the ninth floor of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

The workshop opens with a brief overview of electromagnetic waves, and also addresses a number of themes such as the extent of health effects from electromagnetic waves, and reviews international and national regulations and controls in this context, in addition to shedding light on verification and compliance methods, and the misconceptions prevailing around this topic.

This workshop is part of the Commission's program to raise public awareness of the effects resulting from exposure to electromagnetic waves emitted from wireless station antennas, mobile phones and wireless communication devices in general, and their impact on human health, and to clarify some facts and correct a number of misconceptions on the topic, and to highlight the most important achievements made by the Commission in this field, in light of the presence of questions among some about the likelihood of health damage as a result of what is published in various media outlets of conflicting articles, news and opinions about it.
