Commission Holds a Workshop 'Cloud Computing Solutions for Startups'

The Communications and Information Technology Commission held a workshop titled "Cloud Computing Solutions for Startups," in partnership with cloud computing service providers, the "Dhaka" center affiliated with the General Commission for Small and Medium Enterprises, and the Information and Communication Technology Committee at the Riyadh Chamber, with the aim of encouraging the adoption of cloud computing services by startups and empowering them in their growth and innovation journey, and contributing to increasing the growth of the cloud computing market, and creating effective partnerships between startups and cloud service providers registered with the Commission.

The workshop opened with an introduction to cloud computing and its services, and the benefits of adoption particularly for small and medium enterprises, along with a review of the Commission's role and efforts in developing cloud computing services in the Kingdom, most notably increasing the number of service providers by 160% within a single year, followed by a presentation of the most prominent cloud computing services and products by service providers, in addition to their programs and incentives supporting startups, which offer discounts on cloud service consumption of up to 70%, additional consumption credit for 3 months, free consultations, and other available incentives. Service providers also touched on success stories in using cloud computing services and their impact on the growth and progress of startups.

On the sidelines of the workshop, the Commission held an exhibition featuring 11 companies among the most prominent cloud computing service providers registered with the Commission, to contribute to creating direct partnerships, with the attendance of more than 400 startups, where more than 250 services were showcased, covering emerging and specialized technologies in artificial intelligence, blockchain, infrastructure technologies, connectivity and integration, software development, cybersecurity, website development technologies, business intelligence, and machine learning technologies.

This workshop comes as part of the Communications and Information Technology Commission's efforts to localize innovative cloud solutions and contribute to the growth of the public cloud computing market so that the market size exceeds SAR 12 billion by 2025, in addition to enabling startups to benefit from the resources available in this promising market.
