Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission Inspects Telecom Service Providers' Preparations for This Year's Hajj Season

The government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is keen to provide the best services to the pilgrims of the sacred House of God, as part of the efforts made by all government agencies to prepare for the 1435H Hajj season. In this context, the Communications and Information Technology Commission, based on its responsibilities in monitoring and overseeing telecommunications and information technology services, coordinated with licensed service providers to deliver services with high quality and a level befitting the Kingdom's reputation. The Commission's efforts focused on a comprehensive review of operational plans and service recovery plans, as well as conducting a comprehensive field survey of the frequencies allocated to relevant entities in Makkah and the holy sites by a specialized technical team, to ensure there is no interference on the frequencies used.

The telecommunications and information technology infrastructure in the Makkah region is among the most advanced networks in the world, as the size of the available networks and infrastructure rivals the total available in many countries. This infrastructure includes exchanges, transmission networks, cabinets, towers and wireless stations of the second, third, and fourth generations, out of keenness to serve millions of subscribers with high quality.

During the inspection visit made today by the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Al-Darrab, with a number of Commission officials, His Excellency reviewed the sites of telecommunications and information technology companies operating in the holy sites in the Makkah region, and inspected the companies' latest preparations, and the extent of completion of all arrangements and precautions, to ensure the continuity and reliability of services. It was clearly evident through the visit that the companies are making efforts to provide all integrated technical equipment, both fixed and mobile, in a way that ensures the provision of the highest level of service in call quality, and achieving the exceptional capacity that meets the needs of all pilgrims to the sacred House of God in the Grand Mosque and the holy sites, and meets the needs of the security and civil sectors and business sector services.

Eng. Abdullah Al-Darrab praised the companies' efforts in this endeavor, which came in line with the generous support the sector receives from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, appreciating at the same time the exceptional efforts made by service providers in preparation for this blessed season, and noting the development witnessed in services during this year's 1435H Hajj season.
