Commission Fines a Parcel Delivery Service Provider

Commission Fines a Parcel Delivery Service Provider

The Communications and Information Technology Commission fined one of the parcel delivery service companies, for the company's violation of the decisions and instructions contained in the document "Rules for Protecting the Rights of Postal Service Beneficiaries" recently issued by the Commission, and as an extension of the regulatory and supervisory role entrusted to the Commission over the postal sector in the Kingdom, based on Council of Ministers Resolution No. (403) dated 12/7/1440H.

The Commission explained that the financial fine imposed on the company amounted to (100,000) one hundred thousand Saudi riyals, for the company's imposition of undisclosed fees on beneficiaries of postal services without informing or obtaining their consent, and then demanding they pay them, as a result of following up on the implementation of the Commission's decisions, and complaints received from beneficiaries.

The Commission noted that its inspection and supervisory tours of postal service providers are continuing to ensure that all service providers comply with the document on rules for protecting the rights of postal beneficiaries, and to detect violations and take regulatory action against them in a manner that ensures the protection of the rights of postal beneficiaries.

It is noted that the Commission had called, last November, on beneficiaries of postal services to communicate with it via the call center it designated to receive complaints from beneficiaries of postal services escalated to the Commission after not being resolved within the period specified in the document, to address them according to specific and documented mechanisms, by calling the number (19966), or through its website
