Commission Strengthens Regulations for Sharing Mobile Telecom Towers

Commission revealed

today its intention to strengthen the regulatory environment for mobile telecom towers by raising the rate of sharing in them by service providers, through mergers in tower ownership or their acquisition by interested investors, with the aim of reducing their capital and operational costs and achieving maximum efficiency, including reducing maintenance expenses for these towers. In advancing the telecommunications and information technology system, this direction achieves fair competition among mobile telecom companies, and enhances the deployment of 5G networks, enabling the provision of new services such as the Internet of Things and raising the quality of services for users.

It is noted that this approach is adopted by many developed countries, whereby investors purchase, manage and operate towers, and then lease them to mobile telecom companies.
