Commission: Affirms the Importance of Enabling Saudi Youth with Key Telecom and IT Skills

The Communications and Information Technology Commission affirmed that the National Transformation Program 2020 includes strategic objectives related to the telecommunications and information technology sector, most notably developing the infrastructure of the telecom and information technology and broadband sector, innovation in advanced technologies, investment in the digital economy and national human capital, and building an effective generation capable of using the latest technologies, and establishing a knowledge-based economy in line with Saudi Vision 2030, through partnership between the public and private sectors.

Eng. Majed bin Mohammed Al-Muzaiyen, Acting Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, affirmed in a speech delivered in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Fahd Al-Fuhaid, Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the importance of the social contribution of all its partners in the sector to enable Saudi youth to acquire the most important telecom and IT skills, appreciating the efforts of Huawei in developing the skills of young talents in the fields of telecommunications and information technology in the Kingdom, by hosting innovation competitions in telecom and IT skills aimed at supporting promising talents and encouraging them to present new ideas and concepts, and training those talents on the latest technologies and knowledge. This came during the launch of the Huawei ICT Skills Competition 2017 aimed at university students, which seeks to discover and develop the most prominent promising talents in the field of telecommunications and information technology in the region.

It is noted that the Huawei ICT Skills Competition 2017 has the participation of more than (1,000 students) from Saudi universities and colleges, in cooperation with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and the Communications and Information Technology Commission, contributing to giving students additional opportunities to gain prestigious experience in this sector, as participants will learn about the most prominent challenges facing this sector, as well as advanced technologies in internet protocol and information technology, cloud computing, and network security.
