Commission Contributes to Raising Awareness of Safe Internet Use Among About 50,000 Male and Female Students in Makkah Region

The Communications and Information Technology Commission, represented by its branch in the Makkah region, continued holding a series of lectures under its "Cybercrime: Its Dangers and Penalties" initiative, as part of the activities of the Makkah Cultural Forum 1439H "How Do We Become Role Models?", in (Makkah, Jeddah, Taif, Al-Qunfudhah), where the lectures targeted about 50,000 male and female students from various stages of general education, university education, and technical colleges. The legal advisor at the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Mr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Rabiah, gave visual presentations on cybercrimes, their types, their risks, ways to prevent them, and steps to report them, reviewing the Anti-Cybercrime Law.

Through this initiative, the Commission aims to raise the level of awareness among male and female students in the Makkah region on how to use the internet safely, and to inform them of the risks they may face when it is misused.

It is noted that this initiative is being implemented in all educational districts in the Makkah region, covering (general education, university education, institutes and colleges), using multiple methods including delivering interactive awareness lectures, sending awareness text messages (SMS) to subscribers of telecom services in the Makkah region, and displaying awareness media messages on sports stadium screens in the region.
