CITC Confirms the Readiness of Its Plan to Serve Pilgrims to the Sacred House of God
The Communications and Information Technology Commission affirmed the start of implementing its plans and the completion of all arrangements for this year's Hajj, as His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais, Governor of the Commission, reviewed the preparations and readiness the day before yesterday, Thursday, during his inspection tour of the Commission's sites and telecom and information technology service providers in the Holy Sites, and during his tour he affirmed the importance of joining efforts and providing all telecom and information technology services with high efficiency and quality, and implementing service recovery plans in cases of disasters and emergencies, God forbid, in accordance with what was prepared in advance.
The Commission said in its statement today that one of its main tasks in serving the guests of the Most Merciful is supervising and following up on telecom and information technology services in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, the Holy Sites, Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and the air, sea, and land ports of entry, as well as coordinating between the government entities concerned with serving pilgrims to the Sacred House of God in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and the Holy Sites, and telecom and information technology service providers, to provide the best services to pilgrims wherever they are throughout their stay.
The Commission added that among the most notable services it supervises this blessed season are mobile communications services, fixed communications services, internet services, and the public wireless system service. The Commission also undertakes other roles, including allocating the necessary frequencies to all entities working in Hajj service and monitoring the frequency spectrum in Makkah and the Holy Sites to ensure there is no interference affecting frequency users and working to eliminate it if found, and conducting field measurements of mobile telecom service quality and user experience quality.
The Commission explained that its plan for this year's Hajj season is implemented by Saudi human resources distributed across field teams and others in network control centers at service providers, operating around the clock, with a field team present in each of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and the Holy Sites, tasked with following up on service delivery at sales outlets, another field technical team tasked with conducting measurements of mobile telecom service quality and user experience, a field technical team that monitors the frequency spectrum and addresses any interference affecting these services, as well as a central supervisory team tasked with monitoring the status and performance of networks through the network control centers of telecom and information technology service providers, in addition to a central technical team tasked with handling emergency requests for frequency allocation to entities serving the guests of the Most Merciful, and clearing telecom and information technology equipment.
