CITC Confirms Network Readiness to Serve Guests of the Two Holy Mosques During the Blessed Month of Ramadan
The Communications and Information Technology Commission announced today the completion of all preparations to serve the guests of the Two Holy Mosques during the blessed month of Ramadan for the current year 1439H, and the readiness of telecom and information technology service providers' networks to provide the best services to visitors of the Two Holy Mosques with high efficiency and quality, with the increase in 4G network capacity compared to last year reaching more than 83% in the Grand Mosque and more than 65% in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, while the increase in the number of 4G base stations reached more than 50% in the Grand Mosque and more than 22% in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
Regarding Madinah Al-Munawwarah, the Commission explained that the increase in 4G network capacity reached more than 50%, while it reached more than 45% in the Prophet's Mosque compared to last year, while the increase in the number of 4G base stations reached more than 22% in the Prophet's Mosque and more than 47% in Madinah Al-Munawwarah, noting the provision of more than (1,700) Wi-Fi access points in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and more than (1,300) Wi-Fi access points in Madinah Al-Munawwarah, which will achieve greater capacity to meet the growing demand for telecom services.
In a related context, the Commission, in coordination with telecom service providers, deployed more than (2,600) specialized human resources, and provided more than (350) points of sale in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and the central areas of the Two Holy Mosques to serve visitors.
The Commission affirmed that it is working to monitor telecom and information technology services in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and the Two Holy Mosques through conducting a comprehensive field survey of wireless station networks for government and service entities to ensure their equipment is set to their designated frequencies, in order to limit interference on these networks, adding that it is conducting field measurements during the blessed month of Ramadan in the area surrounding the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque area to monitor the quality levels of mobile telecom services provided to visitors of the Two Holy Mosques and take the necessary corrective actions in coordination with service providers. It is noted that one of the Commission's main tasks in serving visitors of the Two Holy Mosques is to harness all capabilities through supervising and following up on telecom and information technology services in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah and the air, sea, and land ports of entry, as well as coordinating between the government entities concerned with serving visitors to the Sacred House of God and telecom and information technology service providers, to provide the best services to visitors wherever they are throughout their stay.
