CITC Conducts Inspection Tours of Telecom Service Providers Ahead of the Hajj Season
The Communications and Information Technology Commission conducted inspection tours of telecom service sales outlets at a number of entry stations for pilgrims, including King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and Jeddah Islamic Port.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Tamimi, Vice Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission for Regulatory Affairs and Competition, said that the field inspection teams during this year's Hajj season target all entry points as well as the Holy Sites in Makkah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah throughout this year's Hajj season, to ensure the provision of telecom services to pilgrims with ease and in accordance with the Commission's regulations.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Otaibi, Director of the Inspection Department at the Commission, said that a number of field teams are distributed across service outlets and points of sale during the Hajj season to monitor, control, and take regulatory action against any violations detected.
It is noted that the Communications and Information Technology Commission has, since early on, formed numerous field teams to conduct network performance measurements, verify coverage availability and signal strength, monitor the performance of service providers' networks, verify their quality level, and prepare daily reports.
