CITC Conducts Inspection Tours of Postal Companies .. Fines Await Non-Compliant Firms
The Communications and Information Technology Commission continued conducting its inspection tours of licensed postal service companies in various regions of the Kingdom, to verify the extent of companies' compliance in providing their services with ease and in accordance with the Commission's regulations. This action comes within the ninety-day period stipulated by the Council of Ministers' resolution assigning the Commission the regulatory and oversight powers for the postal sector, to develop the legislation and regulations specific to the postal sector.
The Commission said that it had detected, over the past few days, a number of violations, including delays in delivering shipments, adding that it had directed postal service companies to achieve customer satisfaction and comply with the contracts made between customers and companies, particularly with regard to delivering shipments at the agreed time.
The Commission affirmed that it will take all regulatory measures against violating companies, which may extend to suspending postal service licenses and imposing financial fines.
The Commission noted that it had recently released a draft of "Rules for Protecting the Rights of Postal Service Beneficiaries," in line with the Council of Ministers' resolution assigning the Commission the regulatory and oversight powers for this sector, and in its pursuit of protecting customers' rights in postal services and improving their experience, by establishing rules governing the relationship between the postal service provider and the beneficiary.
