CITC Holds a Cybersecurity Exercise for Telecom, IT, and Postal Service Providers

The Communications and Information Technology Commission held a cybersecurity exercise for telecom, information technology, and postal service providers, aimed at enhancing communication between incident response teams among relevant entities, developing specialized capabilities in the field, and exchanging expertise, to ensure continued efforts in confronting cyber threats.

The Commission revealed that the exercise is based on carrying out simulated cyberattacks, which are analyzed by the participating teams, discovering the necessary methods to recover from them and mitigate their effects at the sector level, in addition to testing the incident and crisis response plan with the aim of raising the level of crisis management, and coordinating with relevant entities to raise readiness and ensure the ability to confront critical incidents.

The Commission explained that the most important objectives the exercise focused on include increasing participating entities' ability to make effective decisions in the event of a cyber crisis, presenting anticipated attack scenarios, and introducing the best methods for managing external communication during a crisis.

This comes as part of the Commission's role in strengthening cybersecurity practices, and increasing the level of cybersecurity maturity among providers of telecom, information technology, and postal services, alongside adopting a risk management methodology to achieve cybersecurity requirements, and working to ensure the continuity of services provided to users and verify their integrity.
