CITC Concludes Internet Workshops for Computer Science Colleges

The Communications and Information Technology Commission concluded the "How the Internet Works" workshops, which were held during the period from 28-29 Safar 1438H at the College of Computer and Information Sciences at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, the College of Computer and Information Sciences at King Saud University in Riyadh, and the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Dammam, in cooperation and coordination with the RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC).

These workshops covered several topics, most notably an introduction to the entities and institutions that manage internet governance globally, internet number resources (IPv4, IPv6, ASNs), the infrastructure of the domain name system, as well as the depletion of Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) addresses and the implementation of version 6 (IPv6), in addition to internet protection.

The Commission said that the workshops aim to shed light on how the World Wide Web works, and to introduce the global institutions and organizations that manage internet governance, as part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness of internet applications and services among staff and students of a number of computer science colleges at Saudi universities.
