CITC Clarifies: We Did Not Order the Blocking of Applications

With reference to reports circulating in some media outlets regarding the blocking of certain applications, the Commission would like to clarify that it has not directed the blocking of these applications at present, and at the same time it is following up on this matter with telecom service providers to determine its dimensions, noting that the provision of telecom and information technology services in the Kingdom is subject to regulatory requirements, the violation of which entails the application of the Telecommunications Act and its implementing regulations against violators. The Commission reaffirms its keenness and pursuit of disseminating telecom and information technology services and applications in a way that fulfills users' needs in the Kingdom, and protects their interests and the public interest, in accordance with the tasks entrusted to it under the Telecommunications Act, its implementing regulations, and other regulations in force in the Kingdom.
