CITC Begins Accepting Electronic Registration Applications Under the (.السعودية) Domain

The Communications and Information Technology Commission announced the launch of the general phase of registering Arabic domain names under the Arabic domain (.السعودية), through the start of accepting registration applications at ten o'clock on the morning of Monday 18 Shawwal 1431H corresponding to September 27, 2010.

It is noted that registration will be electronic only, through the website of the Saudi Network Information Center (www.nic.net.sa), noting that registration will be open to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis, and in accordance with the regulations governing the registration process available for viewing on the center's website.

This step is an incentivizing one given the Arabic-language addresses it provides, and comes as part of the Commission's efforts to raise internet usage rates among citizens in the Kingdom.
