CITC Approves Phased Implementation of the Decision to Link Prepaid SIM Card Top-Ups to ID Numbers Over Two Months Starting 12/9/1433H
In light of what the Communications and Information Technology Commission observed regarding congestion of subscribers at some mobile telecom service providers' offices to update their data, and out of the Commission's desire to facilitate the completion of the update procedures, the Commission affirmed to service providers the importance of facilitating procedures without compromising the main objective of the update process, while enabling the receipt of subscriber requests through service providers' websites for SIM card holders who already have registered accounts for postpaid numbers under their ID numbers with the service providers, after verifying the accuracy of their data.
In this regard, the Commission approved the service providers' request that the implementation of the decision to link prepaid SIM card top-ups to ID numbers be applied in a phased manner starting from the previously specified date of 12/9/1433H, over a period of two months from this date, with service providers announcing their plans in this regard to their subscribers.
The Commission affirms that no violating or unidentified SIM cards should be used in order to avoid regulatory accountability, and the Commission thanks subscribers who took the initiative to update their data with mobile telecom service providers, recognizing the importance of this matter.
