CITC Announces the Entry into Force of the User Protection Document

The Communications and Information Technology Commission announced today, Tuesday 09/12/1436H, the start of implementation of the document protecting users of telecom and information technology services, which was recently approved by the Commission's Board of Directors, and which concerns protecting users' rights and interests, as part of its efforts to protect users of telecom and information technology services.

The Commission explained in a press statement today that the document came as a result of the Commission's study and analysis of the causes of recurring complaints, and the development of solutions to address them and avoid their recurrence, in a manner that achieves user protection, noting that the solutions included "protection of the service applicant/user."

The document came in 11 articles obligating telecom and information technology service providers to a set of procedures aimed at protecting the service applicant and user, whether when requesting the service, canceling it, or billing it, in addition to how to deal with the credit limit, internet packages, the service provider's obligations to protect the user during international roaming, and its obligations in dealing with user complaints.

It is noted that this document reinforces the Commission's efforts to protect users of telecom and information technology services, and confirms what it had previously issued in this regard, such as the documents on terms for providing telecom and information technology services.
