CITC Announces the Release of a Public Consultation Document on Regulatory Frameworks and Licensing for International and National Internet Exchanges in the Kingdom

The Communications and Information Technology Commission today announced the release of a public consultation document on the regulatory frameworks and new licenses for international and national internet exchanges in the Kingdom. The Commission explained that its aim in releasing this public consultation is to enhance competition in the telecom market, and improve the quality and pricing of internet services to meet the growing demand for internet services in the Kingdom, and attract foreign direct investment to meet market needs in fulfillment of Saudi Vision 2030, in addition to providing diversity in transit connectivity services for exchanging international internet traffic and keeping national internet traffic within the Kingdom to improve the user experience, while positioning the Kingdom as a regional hub for international internet traffic.

The Commission invited all specialists and interested parties to review the consultation through its website (www.cst.gov.sa) and to submit answers and comments, with the necessity of providing relevant data, analyses, and comparative studies supporting the views and comments via email
