CITC: 4G Network Capacity Increased by 55.96% for This Year's Hajj
The Communications and Information Technology Commission stated that the increase in 4G network capacity for this year's Hajj in the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah and the Holy Sites reached 55.96% compared to last year, while 3G network capacity increased by 6.96%, and the increase in the number of 4G towers compared to last year reached 50.94%, while 3G towers increased by 8.32%.
The Commission affirmed that the telecommunications and information technology infrastructure is among the best infrastructures in the world in terms of the use of the latest technologies, equipment, exchanges, transmission networks, cabinets, and wireless stations that support second-, third-, and fourth-generation mobile phone services.
The Commission reported that network performance recorded high levels during the 1436H Hajj season, particularly the call success rate indicator, which exceeded an average of 99%, while data usage during that year rose by 300% compared to the previous year as a result of the availability of 3G networks and increased 4G capacity, in addition to the provision of Wi-Fi networks within pilgrims' accommodation facilities.
