At the Plenipotentiary Conference in Romania... The ITU Honors the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the Union's Council

The International Telecommunication Union "ITU" honored the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by His Excellency the Governor of the National Cybersecurity Commission, Eng. Majid bin Mohammed Al-Mazyad, by awarding him the Gold Medal, in recognition of the efforts made by the Kingdom during its chairmanship of the ITU Council Working Group, at the Union's Plenipotentiary Conference currently held in the Romanian capital, Bucharest.

The Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Mr. Houlin Zhao, said that we are honoring today the representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Majid Al-Mazyad, who contributed to supporting the Union's work during His Excellency's chairmanship of the Council Working Group on International Internet-Related Public Policy Issues, since its formation in 2009.

It is worth noting that the ITU Council Working Group on International Internet-Related Public Policy Issues is considered the most important of the Council's working groups, witnessing intensive attendance and notable engagement from many countries, given the international attention given to the topics it addresses. It is also considered an international platform for governments, through which internet public policy issues are discussed, and necessary decisions or recommendations are prepared.
