As Part of Its Activities at the International Non-Terrestrial Networks Forum, the Communications, Space and Technology Commission Showcases Its Various Experiences in Providing Communications Services via Non-Terrestrial Networks
The Communications, Space and Technology Commission showcased, at the Non-Terrestrial Networks Forum held in Riyadh, its various experiences in finding innovative solutions that provide communications services via non-terrestrial networks, to address global challenges in delivering communications services to unconnected areas, and to secure the individual's right to connectivity wherever they are, through means that ensure the continuity of communications and information technology services.
The Commission explained that the results it reached in cooperation with local and international partners will provide digital solutions for covering remote areas, provide means of communication in emergency and disaster situations, contribute to increasing network capacities for temporary events and occasions, in addition to enriching the market with successful experiences in innovating sustainable solutions that take into account global trends in economic and environmental aspects, as they rely on clean, environmentally friendly energy in their operation, in line with environmental and health targets to reduce carbon emissions.
The experiences presented by the Commission at the forum, in cooperation with its partners, are summarized in a 5G technology trial using High-Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS), in addition to communication trials from the low atmosphere, providing the latest technologies for the Internet of Things and broadband internet from space, and providing broad-scale connectivity for aircraft via (A2G) technology. The Commission also discussed the most prominent results of these promising technologies in discussion sessions with representatives of partner entities.
The success of the Kingdom's trials, in cooperation with its local and international partners, in supporting the innovation of network delivery technologies and multiplying their services, comes as an extension of the Kingdom's government support in enabling the communications, space, and information technology sector, in addition to the distinguished cooperation of partners, to enable innovative uses, support digital transformation, and lead the Kingdom to global leadership in wireless technologies, and enhance its position as a regional digital hub for technology and innovation.
