Announcement of the Names of the Consortiums Awarded Licenses to Provide Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) Services

Further to what the Commission had previously done regarding the licensing procedures for providing mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) services, His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Darrab, explained that the Commission's Board of Directors approved granting licenses to both the Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia Consortium and the Jawraa Consortium, for fulfilling the requirements for obtaining the license.

The Commission's objective in licensing the provision of mobile virtual network operator services is to enhance fair and effective competition and encourage it in the field of communications and information technology, by providing advanced and adequate mobile communications services at reasonable prices, improving the level of communications and information technology services and their rollout, contributing to reducing their prices, caring for subscribers, supporting investment in this important sector, in addition to contributing to GDP. It will also give subscribers multiple options for obtaining mobile communications services through competing companies, on the basis of fairness and transparency.
