Following Its Success in Launching the Electronic Delivery Applications Platform, "The Communications Commission" Wins the HH Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Award for Information Technology

The Communications and Information Technology Commission won, today, the HH Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Award for Information Technology in its twentieth edition, for the "Delivery Applications Platform via Electronic Platforms" project, following the Commission's success in launching the platform during the coronavirus pandemic, by providing a safe regulatory environment and creating emerging and innovative technical solutions in the delivery applications sector to raise its capacity and improve its performance throughout the Kingdom, which contributed to protecting public health through compliance with precautionary measures, and boosting the local economy.

The delivery applications platform helped facilitate the regulation of the sector, and create many different business models, as the Kingdom is considered one of the first to regulate this sector. The platform also contributed to automating all services related to delivery applications, such as: issuing permits for delivery agents, and establishing a database for monitoring, follow-up, analysis, and measurement, in addition to integrating the platform electronically with government and security agencies to facilitate the procedures for issuing permits during the curfew period, which had a significant impact in reducing risks, and contributing to controlling the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

According to indicators issued by the Communications and Information Technology Commission, the number of delivery requests during the pandemic exceeded more than 26 million requests, with a total value estimated at more than SAR 2 billion, serving more than 250 cities and governorates across the Kingdom.

It is worth noting that the HH Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Award for Information Technology was launched at the beginning of the second millennium, and is awarded annually to the best technical projects distinguished by creativity and innovation, with individuals and institutions from across the Arab world competing for it, where projects are evaluated based on key criteria including innovation, design, content, and interactivity, according to globally applied standards regarding their quality, comprehensiveness, and diversity.
