According to the Results of the "Miqyas" Report for the Last Quarter of 2020, "The Communications Commission" Reveals Average Internet Speeds of Telecommunications Service Providers in the Kingdom

The Communications and Information Technology Commission revealed, today, the average download speed in the Kingdom during the fourth quarter of 2020, where the average mobile internet download speed reached 97.54 Mbps, an improvement of about 32.85% compared to the third quarter of the same year, while the average fixed internet download speed reached 76.85 Mbps, an improvement of about 9.21%, according to the results of the "Miqyas" report on internet speed and digital content access speed indicators in the Kingdom.

The Commission noted in its quarterly "Miqyas" report that Saudi Telecom Company (STC) topped the list of telecommunications service providers in average mobile internet download speeds, recording an average speed of 106.19 Mbps, an improvement of up to 35.84% compared to the third quarter of 2020, followed in second and third place respectively by "Zain" with an average speed of 92.17, and Mobily with an average speed reaching 78.10 Mbps.

"Zain" topped the list of telecommunications service providers in fixed internet speed, with a download speed of 125.13 Mbps, an improvement of up to 12.85% compared to its performance in the third quarter of 2020, followed in second and third place respectively by Integrated Telecom Company with an average speed of 97.46, and "Mobily" with an average speed of 76.25 Mbps.

The "Miqyas" report also revealed that "Zain" topped the performance list of telecommunications service providers in mobile internet download speed in the regions of: Riyadh, Madinah, Qassim, Hail, Tabuk, and Northern Borders, while Saudi Telecom Company (STC) topped service providers' performance in the regions of: Makkah, the Eastern Region, Jazan, and Najran, while Mobily recorded the best performance in the last quarter of 2020 in the regions of: Al-Jouf, Al-Baha, and Asir.

It is worth noting that "the Communications Commission" works to stimulate competitiveness among telecommunications service providers to provide the best services to users, through numerous mechanisms, including raising the level of market transparency through publishing data and indicator results, and enabling investors and interested parties to review market performance indicators in the Kingdom.
