According to the "Miqyas" Report for the First Quarter of 2021, the Communications Commission: 5G Services Reach 53 Governorates in the Kingdom

The Communications and Information Technology Commission announced an increase in the penetration rate of 5G services in the Kingdom

during the first quarter of 2021

, bringing the total number of governorates covered by 5G to 53 governorates across various regions of the Kingdom, compared to 51 governorates during the fourth quarter of 2020.

The Commission revealed, in its quarterly report

"Miqyas"

on internet speed and digital content access speed indicators in the Kingdom, that "STC" and "Zain" topped the list of 5G service rollout in the Kingdom, having rolled out 5G services in 43 governorates each, while Mobily rolled out 5G services in 21 governorates.

The report issued by the "Communications Commission" at the end of the first quarter of 2021 recorded mobile 5G download speeds in the Kingdom averaging 322.42 Mbps, with Zain recording the highest average mobile internet download speed for 5G service, at a speed reaching 350.47 Mbps, followed by "STC" in second place with an average speed of 348.33, while Mobily came in third place with an average download speed reaching 231.83 Mbps.

The "Miqyas" report also revealed that Zain topped the performance of telecommunications service providers in rolling out 5G services across all regions of the Kingdom, except for the Makkah region, where Mobily recorded the best performance in rolling out 5G services during the first quarter of 2021.

The "Miqyas" report comes within the framework of the "Communications Commission's" work to enhance competitiveness among operators to provide the best services to users, by raising the level of market transparency through publishing data and indicator results, and enabling investors and interested parties to review market performance indicators in the Kingdom.
