Communications Commission Renews Its Call to Trip Enthusiasts to Register for the Personal Search and Rescue Service

The Communications and Information Technology Commission today renewed its call to land and sea trip enthusiasts to register for the personal search and rescue service, which helps locate missing persons in areas not covered by public communications networks, by determining their locations via satellites.

The Commission stated that land and sea trip enthusiasts can obtain the device according to the specifications approved by the Commission for satellite search and rescue devices, available at commercial outlets licensed in their commercial registration to sell wireless devices, and purchase a personal emergency distress device, in addition to filling out the designated form, and having it signed and stamped by the seller and the service applicant. The Commission invited those interested to visit its website to obtain all information about the personal search and rescue service.

It is worth noting that the personal search and rescue service was launched by the Communications and Information Technology Commission in previous years in partnership with the Ministry of Interior and the General Civil Aviation Commission, for an annual fee of fifty riyals, with the aim of facilitating the ability of relevant authorities to reach missing persons by land or sea, and rescue them in record time.
