As a Result of the Collaborative Efforts between CST and Aramco Digital A Successful Trial in Crowd Management Using AI and Specialized Communications in the Holy Sites

As part of the Communications, Space and Technology (CST) commitment to enable and support licensing the National Communications Network, Aramco Digital has successfully conducted a crowd management trial using AI and specialized communications services in the Holy Sites , in collaboration with the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security, the Saudi Water Authority (SWA), and Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR).

The trial was attended by the Acting Governor of CST, Eng. Haytham AlOhali; CEO of Aramco Digital, Eng. Nabil Al Nuaim; the Assistant Governor of the HCIS, Eng. Ibrahim Al Abu Issa, and President of Aramco Connect, Eng. Eid AlHarbi.

Joining live from Dhahran was Chairman of the Board of Aramco Digital, Eng. Ahmad Al-Khowaiter.

CST stated that the crowd management using AI and specialized communications services trial is designed to support operational sectors during Hajj by enabling seamless, real-time voice and video communications.

This ensures the quality and continuity of services provided to pilgrims while offering secure, high-efficiency connectivity with instant response, unaffected by network congestion.

It also showcased the use of Edge AI analytics in crowd management, allowing for low-latency data processing and real-time decision making, by analyzing image and video data of crowd and vehicle movement instantly, which helps in reducing network consumption.

The trials were conducted using specialized wireless communication network operating in the 450 MHz band, which was licensed to Aramco Digital in October 2024.

This initiative emphasizes CST's commitment to leveraging digital infrastructure capabilities to deliver cutting-edge technology services and support critical sectors in managing the movement of pilgrims efficiently and safely.

It reflects the high level of collaboration between government and private entities to provide an exceptional Hajj experience.
