20250519510The Kingdom has achieved second place among the G20 countries in the United Nations Telecommunication Infrastructure Index (TII), which assesses the development of digital infrastructure in countries and serves as a key component of the E-Government Development Index (EGDI).
The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission highlighted the importance of this index in measuring the growth and advancement of e-government, driving economic development by attracting investment and fostering innovation, and contributing to social development by improving education and healthcare.
The commission stated that the Kingdom’s continued progress in this index underscores the strength of its digital infrastructure and its role in enhancing the growth and development of the digital economy, as well as attracting investments. The Kingdom’s telecommunications and technology market is the largest and fastest-growing in the Middle East and North Africa, with an estimated value of 166 billion SAR. Additionally, mobile service subscription penetration has reached 198% of the population, and the average monthly data consumption per individual in the Kingdom exceeds the global average by three times.
